You’re not the only one who needs caffeine to wake up and keep going. Millions of people use caffeine daily to increase alertness and focus.

For the majority of healthy adults, 400 mg of caffeine per day seems to be safe. That is approximately equal to caffeine in two “energy shot” drinks, 10 cans of cola, or four cups of brewed coffee. Remember that different drinks have different amounts of caffeine, especially energy drinks.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has warned that caffeine in liquid or powder can contain toxic amounts. About 28 cups of coffee are included in just one teaspoon of powdered caffeine. Such high caffeine intake can result in serious health issues and even death.

Caffeine is not recommended for kids, even though it may be safe for adults. It’s essential to warn teenagers and young adults against consuming too much caffeine and combining it with alcohol and other drugs.

Women who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or nursing should discuss keeping their caffeine intake to under 200 mg daily with their doctors. Heavy caffeine consumption can have undesirable side effects, even in adults. Additionally, those who are extremely sensitive to caffeine’s effects or take specific medications may want to avoid it.

Coffee Dependence Sign #1: You regularly consume more than 4 cups of coffee.

If you consume more than four cups of caffeinated coffee per day (or the equivalent) and experience side effects like:

  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Nervousness
  • Irritability
  • Frequent urination or inability to control urination
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Muscle tremors

Caffeine used to cover up a lack of sleep can lead to an undesirable cycle. For instance, if you have trouble staying awake during the day, you might drink caffeinated drinks. However, caffeine reduces the time you spend sleeping at night by preventing you from dozing off.

Caffeine and some prescription drugs, and herbal supplements may interact. Examples comprise

  1. Ephedrine. This drug, found in decongestants, may raise your risk of hypertension, a heart attack, a stroke, or a seizure if combined with caffeine.
  2. Theophylline. This drug, which is used to widen bronchial airways, frequently has effects resembling those of caffeine. How to Break Caffeine Dependence?

Cutting back on caffeine can be difficult, whether for one of the reasons above or because you want to reduce your spending on coffee drinks. 

Caffeine withdrawal symptoms, such as headaches, fatigue, irritability, and trouble concentrating, may be brought on by a sudden reduction in caffeine intake. Thankfully, these symptoms are typically minor and disappear within a few days. Try these suggestions to break your caffeine addiction:

How to stop caffeine addiction? Watch out. Keep track of the amount of caffeine you consume daily from foods, drinks, and energy drinks. Carefully read all labels. However, remember that some foods or beverages containing caffeine don’t list it, so your estimate might be a little low.

Suppose you are planning to quit caffeine. Reduce gradually. For instance, you could have a smaller cup of coffee or drink one fewer can of soda per day. Or refrain from consuming caffeinated drinks in the afternoon. This will lessen any potential withdrawal effects and help your body adjust to the lower levels of caffeine.

  • Pick decaf. Most decaffeinated beverages have a similar appearance and flavor to their caffeinated counterparts.
  • Reduce the brewing time or use herbal tea. You should brew tea for less time. This lowers the amount of caffeine in it. Alternately, pick herbal teas devoid of caffeine.
  • Examine the bottle. Caffeine can be found in some over-the-counter painkillers. Look for painkillers without caffeine instead.

What Happens When You Break the Caffeine Dependence?
