Looking for some self care tips for a busy woman like you?
It’s not unusual for busy women to have a lot on their plates, particularly as the number of working women attempting to combine a profession and a personal life continues to rise. It is simple to get overwhelmed with responsibilities and duties.
Sometimes, a hectic schedule prevents you from taking care of yourself, but allowing this to continue might make matters worse. Self-care neglect has detrimental effects on your mind, body, and even your career. If you do not prioritize your health, it will materialize into more serious issues.
What is the solution? Creative thinking is required to fit how to practice self care into a packed agenda. When you discover simple strategies to improve your health, it becomes less of a time-consuming endeavor.
Here are some of my favorite self care tips for busy women:
1. It's OK to Ask for Help: One of the BEST Self Care Tips
Women who are focused on their careers don’t always use all the tools at their disposal. This may be due to the fact that they are unaware of them, don’t believe others will perform well or are simply too afraid to request a lifeline.
Learning to recognize when you have too much on your plate and need help is one of the best things you can do for your self-care. You should apply this way of thinking to both your personal and professional lives.
Do you need more money to take your business venture to the next level if you can’t afford the investment yourself? Consider one of the many small business loans for women there are.
Do you need an extra hour in the morning in order to fit in a workout before heading to the office? A few times per week, ask your partner to alternate getting the kids ready for school.
Asking for assistance doesn’t make you weak; rather, it demonstrates that you are capable of keeping a manageable to-do list to prevent burnout.
It is one of the ways to practice self care.
2. Have a Go-To Meal; It's Fine
A fundamental component of self-care is eating healthily and paying attention to your nutritional requirements. However, eating healthily isn’t always simple, especially if you have a busy schedule.
Create one or two go-to meals that you can eat whenever you are too exhausted to even consider what to eat. It could be a salad bursting with fresh produce from the nearby restaurant or a quick meal you can throw together without using up too many dishes.
Just make sure it’s straightforward and made with healthy ingredients like lean protein, whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low-fat dairy. Having your go-to meal planned ahead of time relieves the stress of trying to decide what to eat to refuel.
3. Laugh! It's the Best Medicine!
Laughter is the best medicine because it releases feel-good hormones like serotonin and breaks the cycle of ongoing stress and anxiety. Having fun doesn’t take much time! Check out some funny jokes or watch some of the minute-long humor videos on YouTube.
4. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Most people do not drink enough water throughout the day. In addition to fatigue, joint pain, weight gain, headaches, ulcers, high blood pressure, and kidney disease, dehydration can cause serious medical complications.
You can improve your hydration even if you can’t carry around a gallon of water by adding more water-dense foods to your meals and snacks. Foods that promote hydration include cucumbers, strawberries, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, cantaloupe, spinach, and watermelon.
5. Breathe... Take Deep Breaths
Shallow breathing that results from stress or anxiety makes you feel even more anxious and tense physically. Take a quick break, take 10 deep breaths, and push your breath as deep into your belly as it will go to counteract this. (If taking a deep breath causes your belly to expand, it counts.)
Inhale, exhale, and repeat 10 times. Feeling better already? That’s because the Vagus nerve, which controls your body’s relaxation response, has just been activated.
6. Sleep, You Need It
Sleep can have a significant impact on how you feel physically and emotionally. Even serious health problems can result from not getting enough.
It seems easy enough, but a 2013 Gallup poll found that 40% of Americans sleep for less than seven hours each night. Adults in good health need seven to nine hours of sleep per night on average.
7. Move Your Body!
Exercise of any kind, whether it be a workout or a simple walk outside, should be done for at least 30 minutes daily to benefit both your physical and mental health. You don’t have to complete it all at once; if you can’t, break it up into three 10-minute walks. Making a routine that works for you is the most crucial step.
8. Enjoy the Outdoors
By spending time outside, you can reduce stress, lower your blood pressure, and become more mindful. Going outside can even help with fatigue reduction, according to studies, making it a great way to deal with depression or burnout symptoms. Going outside can also improve your ability to sleep at night, particularly if you engage in physical activity such as walking, hiking, or gardening.
9. Pamper Yourself; You Deserve It
Whether you like to take a long shower, wear a face mask, do your nails, or take a hot bubble bath. It’s always a good idea to take some time for self-care. It just means taking a few minutes to unwind and indulge in something that makes you feel pampered. You don’t have to plan a full day at the spa.
10. Say No to Others and Say Yes to Self Care
It’s very challenging to learn to say no. Many of us feel compelled to accept an invitation to dinner when it is extended to us. However, saying yes to everyone, however, can result in burnout, anxiety, and irritability if you’re already stressed or overworked.
It might take some practice, but once you master the art of saying “no” diplomatically, you’ll begin to feel more self-assured and have more time for your priorities and self-care.
The modern working woman has everything she needs, except for enough time. With a busy schedule, it can be challenging to take care of oneself, but neglecting one’s needs can lead to serious issues in the future. Follow these self care tips and I hope they can help.
